Project Leafdrop 2010
How will we ever get to balance the right amount of browns and greens without enough fall leaves? Not to worry, Project Leafdrop is organizing leaf drops again this year. This coalition of community gardens, botanical gardens, greening groups, environmental organizations, City agencies and community partners is dedicated to moving fallen leaves from the trash bin to the compost bin.

Take a Walk Around Narrows Botanical Gardens
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2FEypovad4] Jimmy Johnson is quite a guy. He's a landscape designer by profession, and in 1995, he and park lover Joan Regan created the Narrows Botanical Garden which is now home to a greenhouse, hundreds of native plants, a native turtle sanctuary, and--thanks to some amazing ioby donors--will be the future home of a brand new beehive.

Thanks to an anonymous gift, your donations to projects this week will be matched dollar for dollar. Search in your borough, find a project that's meaningful to you, and donate as much as you can. You give a dollar; the environment gets two dollars.
