In 2007, 2008,2009,2010, 2011, The Conversation supported young members, Sonja Morgan and Kieth Blocker in organizing SoJust an event "where social justice advocates come together with the community members in an arts and education forum that brings local issues into the community’s spotlight" (Blocker, Tacoma Weekly). We hope to bring this event back to Tacoma 2016. With a focus in broadening the scope of social justice issues discussed and celebrated. This event aims to bring together communities that normally would not engage one another. It will be diverse in age ranges, Tacoma Community representation, social justice issues, advocacy and entertainment. It is an event that will inspire and encourage conversation, play and artistic expression.

So’Just 2010 will feature local musicians, dancers, comedians and spoken word performances.
Throughout the event week, social justice organizations and like minded establishments will be hosting events, providing information, and sharing ideas for how you can be the change you want to see in our community.  It is a grassroots effort to bring together generations and cultures in support of “and justice for all.”

Traditionally SoJust has been a very successful day long event. We would like to transform the daylong event into a weeklong event that gives various organizations and restaurants the opportunity to participate more fully in the SoJust vision for the week. Previously Organizations would host information tables on the day of the event. This year, Organizations will host events that will give the community several opportunities to engage social justice dialogs, performances, shows and lectures. The community will also see the large number of agencies and establishments invested in social justice issues through their collaboration.
