Thank you so much!

the project

The Tacoma Tool Library is open! Now that we're up and running, we're ready to take the next step and start holding workshops and drop-in sessions. And we need your help! In order to do it right, we need to be able to buy materials and pay our instructors to teach workshops and oversee drop-in nights. We are currently 100% volunteer-run, and are hoping to keep access to the library as inexpensive as possible.

Please help us reach our goal of $1,800 to fund a high-quality summer workshop series. The series will feature 9 workshops and drop-in sessions that build skills and confidence in using tools, or teach participants how to complete a specific job. Sessions range from the general (power tool basics, 'ask a contractor' night, etc.), to the specific (deck building 101, make your home more energy efficient, etc.). Programming this first set of workshops will allow us to test the waters and see which workshops are popular and should be repeated throughout the year, and also make the space a more active and useful community resource.

About the Tacoma Tool Library:

The Tacoma Tool Library is a community tool lending library that is accessible to local area residents regardless of income. We maintain an inventory of working household, yard, and specialty tools, and host activities that help people learn new skills and safe tool use. We promote sustainability by keeping tools out of the waste stream and supporting reuse and reduced consumption.

Tacoma Tool Library is fiscally sponsored by Zero Waste Washington. Learn more at: http://www.tacomatoollibrary.org.

the steps

Early June: finalize workshop schedule and teachers

Mid - late June: spread the word and organize

Late June - September: implement workshop series

why we're doing it

This project is all about sustainability; promoting environmental sustainability through shared resources, and a sustainable community by maintaining a place for people to learn and engage each other in improvement projects. It encourages individuals who want to participate in waste reduction and care for their homes and neighborhoods, and also creates a community network that promotes sharing and mutual support.

Thank you so much!

Thank you so much to all of our donors for supporting our campaign for a summer workshop series at the Tacoma Tool Library! We are humbled and grateful to have raised enough to fully support a series of 9 workshops and drop-in sessions this summer. The series is now underway, and thanks to the generosity of our donors,  all sessions are being offered for FREE to the general public. We couldn't be more excited to be offering this programming in our space. So far, we've held a Sewing Night, Intro to Hand Tools Workshop, and Fixers Night, and are working on August and September programming now. Keep an eye on our calendar page for more info on upcoming workshops and events: http://www.tacomatoollibrary.com/calendar. Thanks again for your support - we hope to see you at the library soon!

We're almost there!

We are over 70% of the way there!

We're on our WAY!

Thank you so SO MUCH to all who have donated--it means so much to us to have you all believe in this project! We're so happy to reach this milestone.

This workshop series is an integral part of the mission of the Tool Library.  With your support, we will fulfill that mission, this summer, and beyond!

With just 4 days left to go in our campaign, we need your help now more than ever! Please continue to spread the word about the Tacoma Tool Library. Please share this page with friends and family and let them know they can donate to the Tacoma Tool Library Summer Workshop Series. With your help, we can reach our goal.

Thanks again for your support!
