On ioby, you can support all kinds of neighborhood projects started by people just like you across the country. If you've got an ioby Giving Code, pitch in and help your neighbors by sharing those funds with the park, garden, classroom, urban farm or biking project of your choice!

How do Giving Codes work?

1. Pick a project you'd like to support.

You can search by project location or focus, like education, open space or climate change. Filter for 'Open' projects to see only projects that are currently seeking funding. Too hard to choose? Consider giving to more than one!

2. Decide how much you'd like to give.

Enter the amount you'd like to give into the orange donation box on the project page. The value of your Giving Code will be subtracted later during checkout. We hope you'll consider making an additional donation over the value of your Giving Code, but if not, simply enter the value of the Giving Code for your donation amount and there will be no charge during checkout.

3. Decide how much gratuity you'd like to contribute.

This is is an optional, but important, part of your tax-deductible donation. Your donation funds the project you picked, but the gratuity helps keeps ioby's lights on so that we can keep supporting other great projects across the country. If you'd rather not include a gratuity, enter a 0 here. If you choose to only give the value of your Giving Code, you will not be charged a gratuity.

4. Apply your Giving Code funds.

Enter your code in the box labeled "Giving Code." Be sure to check that you've entered your code correctly. Click "continue to next step."

5. Complete check out.

On the checkout page, you'll see that your Giving Code has been applied to your cart. Just enter the rest of your information and, if necessary, complete the billing information section (only needed if you are making an additional donation). Click "complete order" and you're done!

6. Give yourself a pat on the back! You've just helped to make grassroots neighborhood change!

Questions about your code?

What if I had a card with a code on it, but I lost it? Sorry, we’re not able to send out new codes to replace ones that were misplaced. But you can pick up a new code at another ioby event!

If I have multiple codes, can I give them all to the same campaign? Yes, but because you can only enter one code during the checkout process, you’ll need to go through the checkout process several times to apply all your codes.

Can I use a Giving Code to give to my own campaign? Sure! This is also a great way to walk through the checkout process in case you hear from donors who have questions about using their codes.

What if a donor contacted me because they tried to use their code on my campaign and it didn’t work? Direct them to giving@ioby.org or 917-464-4515 x5 and we’ll help them out, either by taking the donation over the phone or issuing a new code if needed.

I’m giving to a campaign that’s participating in a match program. How do I know my Giving Code donation is being matched? When you make a donation to an ioby campaign that is fundraising as part of a match funding program, you won’t see the doubled amount during checkout, but know that your donation is automatically being doubled. For example, if you apply a $10 Giving Code, the campaign will receive $20, if you decide to make a donation in addition to your Giving Code for a total of $30, the campaign will receive $60.

Is there any reason my code wouldn’t be doubled when giving to a campaign in a match program? In rare cases, a campaign that has already received the maximum amount of match funding available to them will continue fundraising additional un-matched donations. So if you are giving to a campaign that has raised a significant amount of funding already and is no longer being matched, your Giving Code donation is still appreciated, but will not be doubled. The orange banner that appears at the top of a match campaign page should help you determine if donations to a given campaign are still being matched at the time you make your gift.
