About ioby ArkansasNorthwest Arkansas has rapidly grown in the past decade and is home to an expansive number of racially and ethnically diverse communities. The region is also rich with natural beauty, from hiking trails to lakes. However, it is still grappling with the long-term repercussions of Jim Crow-era laws, intimidation, and violence used to discriminate against African-Americans in regions commonly known as “Sundown Towns,” tactics used in many towns in Northern Arkansas and the Ozarks region, including Rogers and Springdale. ioby works to help Black, Indigenous, and  POC communities to assert themselves spatially, as well as to uplift histories that have been buried and erased due to white supremacy. These include:
  • Northwest Arkansas Black Heritage, an organization dedicated to preserving, documenting, and promoting the rich heritage and culture of Black communities in Northwest Arkansas. They fill the gaps that exist in documented history while exposing the systemic racism and inequality that continues to plague society.
  • SAMHATI, which hosts an annual “three day extravaganza” in celebration of Durga Puja, an annual Hindu festival that pays homage to the Hindu goddess Durga.
  • Latinas En Bici's Biciescuela (Bike School), a four week course aimed at teaching Latinas basic bike skills, like learning to ride, rules of the road, minor repair, and safety.
When you crowdfund with ioby, we offer... Just share your idea for community impact, and ioby's Success Strategist will help you create your crowdfunding page, strategize a plan, and support you through the entire process. Every year, we offer additional resources to neighborhood leaders through our match funds:The Northwest Arkansas Neighborhood Match Program, made possible by generous support from the Walton Family Foundation, doubles donations for grassroots projects that improve or activate public spaces in Benton and Washington counties. Public spaces include parks, schools, community centers, sidewalks, community gardens, crosswalks, and more! Residents and nonprofits with budgets under $250,000 can access up to $15,000 in match funding. The Reimagining Communities Match Program, made possible by generous support from the Communities First Fund, doubles donations for Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC) residents or BIPOC-led groups who crowdfund for projects that reimagine public spaces and infrastructure. Projects across Arkansas can access up to $5,000 in match funding for projects that will radically reimagine public space or support the implementation of public infrastructure investment in their communities. Projects can be a local response to a larger community issue or an early-stage solution that can be implemented to show what is possible in the future.
