the project
Photo Antiquities Museum of Photographic History, 501(C)3, has been supported by the Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County, SSB Bank, First National Bank, Northside Leadership Conference and Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall.
The project is a museum exhibit entitled “The Golden Age of Flying” with an emphasis on the Air Races featuring early women pilots as well as the history of aviation in Western Pennsylvania.
Exhibit: The photographic portion of the exhibit is created from early original negatives and photographs circa 1919 – 1940. Additional educational content will provide a timeline spanning the evolution of aviation from the 1400’s through 1939.
Fundraising to support the expenses associated with the production and framing of the exhibition-quality prints as well as detailed educational signage is necessary.
the steps
The processes involved in developing the exhibit include selection of images, production of exhibition prints, framing and informational content.
why we're doing it
The mission of Photo Antiquities Museum of Photographic History is the preservation, presentation and education of the history of photography.
Many of the photographs in the exhibit have never been published, most of the early accomplishments by women pilots are significant in the course of aviation history. People traveling by air today are not aware of all the advancements in the decades of 20thcentury aviation. This exhibit will bring light to “The Golden Age of Flying.”
