the project
This summer the Carpenter Art Garden will keep the creativity and fun rolling for the kids in Binghampton through out the summer! With your support, the Art Garden will host daily programming for students in the neighborhood at no cost to participants. These weekly programs include tutoring, reading club, small group art lessons for adults and children, community vegetable gardening and field trips. These nine weeks of programming will keep students and adults in Binghampton active and engaged during their summer break!
the steps
We are currently recruiting local artists to teach small group art lessons to students Tuesday-Thursday during the nine weeks of programming and lining up field trips throughout Memphis and surrounding areas. Our summer programming will begin June 1, 2015!
why we're doing it
This is a high risk population with almost zero extra curricular activities for students, especially in the summer. These programs will fill a huge void in the neighborhood and occupy students with different experiences throughout the summer months.
