The COVID-19 outbreak has shown tremendous digital disparities in communities around the U.S. when it comes to income, education, and access to technology. Memphis neighborhoods in the 38126 zip-code are no exception in the digital divide. With a poverty rate of 68.9%, youth residing in 38126 are less likely to have household access to technology for virtual learning.
When schools closed in March 2020, students were transitioned to digital learning environments. Lack of access means students fall further behind in academic attainment and educational success. Mustard Seed, a nonprofit organization based in South City wants to help combat the divide by providing computer equipment for youth in need.
With your support, Mustard Seed can reach our goal of raising $5,000 to help close the digital divide for students in 38126.
100% All funds raised will be used towards the purchase of Student Chromebook Computers and headsets to be used with devices. Your donation is 100% tax-deductible. For more information about Mustard Seed go to http://mustardseedincmemphis.org/
Thank you for your support!
In accordance with our mission “to help the community to realize its full potential through education, job training, life skills development, and service to all!" Access to technology is access to a world of opportunity for youth and a better Memphis!
