the project

The intent of the Potluck is to bring people together to foster a sense of community and provide an inclusive event planned for residents, by residents. It will be an exciting, celebratory day of community in Collinwood.  Wa are asking residents and businesses to bring a favorite dish to share, preferably in a reusable container( this is a ‘Zero Waste’ event where we’ll try to create less than one bag of trash and divert other refuse into composting and recycling streams), share a great meal and good conversation, live music and activities for the entire family.

the steps

Notify neighbood of the event using marketing materials, social media and face to face notification.

why we're doing it

Our group includes about a dozen residents in Collinwood who care passionately about the quality of life of our neighborhood and have identified this potluck as a way we can bring different and new people together to celebrate each other (over great food!).  More than ever, there is a renewed sense that ‘North’ and ‘South’ Collinwood should be dropped and that the emphasis should be on ONE community – Collinwood – working together for equity across all areas of the neighborhood. The goal of the Potluck is to bring together people from all over Collinwood to a free event with just enough structure (Common Ground conversation tables) and activity (cooking demonstrations, yard games) to attract people but also make it a relaxing afternoon to enjoy the neighborhood’s greatest assets: its people! We all know that good conversation and friendships are made even better over a plate of good, local food and are taking the opportunity to imbed some education about recycling and composting but holding this Potluck as a ‘Zero Waste’ event! Any resident is welcomed on our planning committee.
