the project
We would like to create a double-barrel compost system for the garden. The tumbler design will be off the ground with holes not large enough for rodents or other pests to get in. This system also allows for one barrel to rest and have time to turn to food scraps into compost while the other is still able to receive new food scraps.
The rain catchment barrels will allow to utilize a natural resource in a sustainable way for long-lasting use in the garden.
the steps
Once funded, we will be able to recieve and install the double-barrel composter in roughly two weeks. We can purchase and install the rain catchment barrels during the time it takes to complete the composter.
why we're doing it
We are doing this to address environmental and sustainability challenges as well as to provide access to fresh, organic food for the surrounding neighborhood that doesn't have produce of the sort readily available. We would also like to start a conversation with residents surrounding composting and sustainable gardening.
