the project

These funds will provide us the opportunity to actualize our dream of opening the Crossroads Community Garden (CCG) which will serve as a horticulture education site for the local community.

The garden will encompass a greenhouse, a fresh flower pollinator garden for butterflies, storm and rainwater mitigation, a composting site, and vegetables and herbs to be used in the partnering Wylie Avenue Bistro restaurant.

The CCG is significant because it will serve as a classroom, outdoor eating area, and community service space for youth and adults. Students and community members will have the opportunity to learn about gardening and harvesting at the site, eat and study and enjoy their neighborhood.

why we're doing it

This project will provide the opportunity for fresh fruits and vegetables, education, and community engagement activities to be available to local residents in the Hill, while also beautifying one of the most neglected streets in the area.

As a community project, our primary goals are to feed and educate our neighbors, in an attempt to enhance the overall living experience for Hill District residents.
