Founded in 2015, the EAT Initiative was birthed out of Chef Claudy’s vision to help fed and sustain food insecure communities. Since then, EAT’s primary focus has been to inject cultural competency and food education into communities in Pittsburgh and around the world. Historically, food insecure communities suffer from a lack of access to fresh food. Today, resources are scarce for these families and individuals, and this disparity deters families and individuals from preparing new meals in more nutritious and cost-efficient ways.
The Empowerment, Awareness, and Training (EAT) Initiative Inc. envisions a world made up of fed and sustainable communities. We will achieve this vision by hosting educational cooking demonstrations and live art fusion events, providing hospitality training and career development, and curating cultural workshops that invest in food vulnerable families.
Through 2018, we will be fundraising and preparing for our January 2019 launch.
By March 2019, we will have completed the first series of community cooking demonstrations--our goal is to impact 1,200 more hungry families in Allegheny County by the end of 2019. We will also be launching Arnold's Unplugged!
By August 2019, we will begin gearing up for the second EAT Hospitality Training cohort.
By October, we are back to celebrating our wins, but we won't get anywhere without you!
To the empower hungry communities through food awareness and hospitality training.
