In 2016 women from the Laid Back and O35 Indoor Soccer Leagues at Greenfield were given the opportunity to help support the Sheffield High School girls soccer team, providing equipment and helping to facilitate practices. We watched the girls sweat as they practiced and learned the game. We watched their confidence grow as their skills improved. We watched them encourage and support each other as they came together as a team. We watched them pick their teammates up when one fell or was injured. We watched them laugh and celebrate victories together, and learn what it means to be a part of something bigger than themselves. We were reminded of why we fell in love with soccer; the support, the encouragement, the friendship, and the fun still fundamental to why we continue to play and foundations of the Laid Back League.
In 2018 the Laid Back League was able to continue its support of girls high school soccer in Memphis. We were able to provide East High School and Southwest Early College High School with soccer balls, shin guards, cleats, and pop-up goals.
901 Girls with Goals seeks to ensure that girls have:
- Proper equipment to play
- Clinics- hosted in conjuction with Play Where You Stay to support skill development
- Off season scholarships- to support additional playing opportunities

why we're doing it
In 2018 with the support of the Laid Back League, Paula Seward and Carrie Hough established 901 Girls with Goals as a way to share their love of the game that has given them so much. We believe the skills we learned on the field; winning and losing, setting and reaching goals, getting back up when you go down, working together as team, and the friendships it has brought us are something every girl should have the opportunity to be a part of. 901 Girls with Goals seeks to support middle school and high school girls soccer in Memphis with needed equipment, clinics to help them develop their soccer skills, and scholarships for off season play.
We believe the skills these girls learn on the soccer field are skills for life.
