the project
Our project is an educational, networking, and greening conference held on March 23, 2013 at the Al Oerter Rec Center in Flushing, NY. This event brings together hundreds of green-minded people who get a chance to see how they can green up Queens. Many groups (at least 60) have tables there to speak about what their group is doing to help our parks and the overall environment. In the past we have had NY4P, Urban Rangers, Queens Zoo, Queens Botanical Garden, Friends of Ft. Totten, Idlewild Park Preservation Committee, FDNY, RecycleQueens, Coastal Preservation Network, Green Shores NYC, Astoria Park Alliance, ioby, Ctizens Committee for NYC, Partnerships for Parks, NYCLCV, CAGE, TreesNY, and many, many others. All green groups are welcome to come and table. We have room for an additional 20 tablers this year, which could bring the total tablers to 80.
the steps
We have done this for many years, so it's easy now!
We are contacting groups now to sign up. Then we will advertise the event through many types of media.
why we're doing it
We do this to help people learn about what they can do to help on a local and very individual level. Even one person can make a difference in greening up Queens.
budget
Tote bags will be given to attendees in order to replace disposable plastic bags.
500 tote bags = $1000.00
Third party credit card processing (3%) = $30.00
ioby materials and labor = $35
Total to raise = $1,065.00
updates
