the project
Gooch Park is in the heart of the North Memphis neighborhood in Memphis. The neighborhood residents use the park for sports, picnics, and other gatherings. The pavilion is an essential part of the park, as it allows residents the ability to have cookouts, parties, and other events without worrying about the threat of rain. Unfortunately, the pavilon has fallen into disrepair over the last few years and needs a facelift! This project will give Gooch Park some much-needed "love" and revitalize Gooch Park into a valuable neighborhood asset!
the steps
1. Engage a pressure-washing company to pressure wash the pavilion.
2. Purchase paint and other supplies.
3. Engage residents in repainting the pavilion.
why we're doing it
Over the years, the park and its pavilion have given birth to countless friendships and fond memories. It has served as a place where friends and families could strengthen their relationships and express neighborhood pride. Additionally, it has been at least one place where neighborhood children could play and discover themselves in a safe space. Revitalizing the park will enhance a crucial neighborhood asset and strengthen neighborhood pride.
