Our mission is to support the youth of today by providing safe and compassionate spaces for them to develop to their fullest potential. We provide restorative and nurturing environments essential to their overall healing and development.
1) To continue to provide restorative healing circles at the SAC Pittsburgh Public School and students at the Healthy Village Learning Institute.
2) Hire a part-time program facilitator, and support the work of our mental health art therapist
3) Support our capacity building
4) Increase our outreach through marketing
Our programming in Mckeesport is coming to an end this month. We plan to work with students in Homewood at the Student Achievement Center and in Mckeesport at the Healthy Village Learning Institute. These students will have one on one time with our Mental Health Art Therapist and restorative circles with our program facilitator. These circles will focus on resilience, empathy training, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, spirituality, and social media.
In the present day more and more children are suffering from traumatic lifestyles. These lifestyles include: a lack of parental guidance, lost love of a parent, sibling rivalry, loss of education, community violence, and the constant engagement with social media. These children are in a state of constant fear, burn out, and shame. They are unable to share what is going on in the home because of the shame that might come with exposing their personal life. Fear comes along with shame, if someone finds out how traumatic their lives are during after school hours. Then the burnout is their constant engagement with social media to feel some type of connection with their peers and their reality world. So what does all this lead to violence, in our schools and the community violence.
How do we begin to change these broken souls? Restorative Healing circles. Raising awareness and level of consciousness is the first step within our healing circles. Only then can you begin to educate them on what is going on. Violence is a disease. If no one tells you that you have a disease then you will not seek help and eventually continue to spread this disease and die from that disease.
Our goal is to educate all young people about this disease of violence and provide them with a cure to end their pain and suffering and the communities in which they live. Your donation to ILS can continue to help heal these broken souls.
