Everyone has a story to tell, sometimes good, sometimes bad and heartbreaking. We, at the LGBTQ Veterans Alliance, have decided it is time to archive the heroic stories of LGBTQ veterans from the many eras of military life. We are launching sign up at PRIDE at the end of September.
Sadly, since we are a brand new nonprofit we cannot afford the booth rental alone. We also have to buy canopies, tables, chairs, brochures, cards, etc. Help us get to PRIDE so we can begin our mission of collecting stories, and bring our veterans comfort and joy.
the steps
Once we have a minimum budget everything will be put in place (dates, etc). We have been talking to various members of the communities (LGBT, Veterans, and Memphis), and are receiving a few in-kind donations/discounts for the event, but before anything can be made solid, we need some capital.
why we're doing it
Every story helps us understand the past. Telling these stories helps insure the past doesn’t repeat. We are trying to launch our LGBTQ Veterans Video Archives to insure the horrors and injustices of the past are not repeated
budget
1) $1,000 for the room/location
2) $500 for local LGBT entertainment (band/dj)
3) $1,000 to go for decorations/tables etc
4) $500 to go for advertisement
*Event will be catered by a local company, as an in kind donation to the community.
