the project

We started this community garden because it's a way to bring everyone together.

This is a grassroots effort to create a new community garden, with neighbors investing our own time and our own resources to get it started. We're now building collaborations for more of our neighbors to be a part of the garden.

We're starting with a garden, and we envision this to be a communtiy collaboration that builds friendships and community involvement beyond the garden, something that our kids will enjoy into the future.

the steps

Come next Spring, 2019 we will install garden beds. We have gardeners already committed to start growing next year. We'll need to purchase soil to fill the beds, and we'll buy tools, a shed, and other materials.

In May we'll start planting together!  Some neighbors are interested in making bat houses and bee hives and other projects as we grow.

why we're doing it

We started this community garden because it's a way to bring everyone together. I'm an avid gardener and I teach my kids to garden. It's an important skill and it's important for people to understand where their food comes from. Local schools want to get involved because gardens are a learning tool, and gardening is an art that's important to have in our community.

Funds will support supplies for a community garden: tools, compost, buckets, a shed, and building compost bins to contain the piles.

The City's leaf collection will donate to our compost pile.

Project Subtotal =  $5,000
ioby Platform Fee  $35
ioby Fiscal Sponsorship Fee (5%) $250
