the project

Light-Up Night in Observatory Hill is another phase of our revitalization efforts of Observatory Hill's business district. Part of these our efforts is bringing our community residents together to unify and diversify our community.  When revitalizing any community it imperative for the residents to be able to come together for a single goal.  This can't be accomplishment if we're divided, pointing fingers and placing blame.  I'm not sure if any community can grow and move forward when there's a divide and diversity issues among its residents.

Observatory Hill's 1st Annual Light-Up Night, is our way to bring out the residents of our community during a time of the year which is filled with warmth and spirit.  Here we meet one another, have conversations with our neighbors who we wouldn't normally speak to, learn little about each other, talk about our children and perhaps at the end of the evening some of us come away with a new friend, Learning we had more in common, then our preconceived perceptions prior to the event.

This project also will be the perfect showcase of the vacant businesses Observatory Hill Inc currently owns and the exisitng businesses.  We look to draw enough interest to the area hoping to bring a buzz to our business district and line up potential investors.  There will carolers, food, warm apple cider and much more...if we're all good, perhaps a visit from the Jolly Old Elf himself...Santa!

why we're doing it

It brings our community together to open up dialogue among neighobors,. Hopefully bridging a divide within our community that currently exists.

Showcasing Observatory Hill's vacant storefronts for potential investors and giving the the exisitng businesses a platform to promote their businesses also.

Overall, begin to diversify, become more open minded and excepting in order to move our community forward together.
