Poplar Park Neighborhood Cookout

Warmer days are on their way! Let's fire up the grill and turn up the music! The creators of this project would like to throw a neighborhood cookout for the residents of the Poplar Park neighborhood.  Four residents of the neighborhood, Jamin, Becky, PJ, and Hayley, will be organizing the event and inviting their neighbors of all ages to attend. At the cookout, there will be food, drinks, music, games for children and adults, and space for neighbors to mingle and get to know one another.  This event will encourage a sense of community among the residents that will lead to stronger relationships and a safer neighborhood.

There will be a few things we need to do before we fire up the grill in May! First, we will create a paper invitation and go door to door inviting our neighbors to the cookout. Second, we will recruit a few volunteers from the neighborhood to help gather supplies and set up on the big day. Then, we will gather needed supplies such as food, drinks, paper products, the sound system, and games. Finally, we'll throw a big cookout for the neighborhood!

The purpose of the Poplar Park Neighborhood cookout is to create a space for neighbors to gather, meet, and create relationships that will continue beyond the event.  This sense of community will strengthen the neighborhood as strangers meet and become acquaintances, and acquaintances take steps towards becoming friends.
