Today is the LAST DAY!!!!

the project

Refresh KC is an interior painting program that seeks to offer its services free of charge. We partner with local neighborhood associations and non-profit organizations to lead a week-long service event for each community in which we paint. This year, Refresh has the opportunity to paint houses in three neighborhoods, spending one week in each neighborhood. This is made possible through our wonderful volunteers, of whom are connected to the neighborhood associations and non-profits, or are simply hoping to give back to their community. It is our hope and goal that through our act of service we can foster community involvement and create relationships that will last beyond our week-long project. While we strive for excellence in our painting, we ultimately want to show the people living in these communities that they are cared for and valued. Our slogan at Refresh is this: “It’s not about the paint, but it is about the paint, but it’s not about the paint.” We say this because our act of painting extends beyond the act itself; we care about these individuals. At the same time, we want the work we do to be nothing shy of excellent. Yet, at the end of the day, it isn’t about the paint—it’s about cultivating community involvement and extending care to those around us. It’s not about the paint, but it is about the paint, but it’s not about the paint.

the steps

As we have mentioned, we will be painting houses in three communities, spending one week in each community. The dates we will be spending in each community are as follows:

Blue Hills Neighborhood | May 16-20

Tri-Blenheim Neighborhood | May 23-27

NUFA Neighborhood | June 6-10

We will be holding training sessions in order to prepare our volunteers to paint houses. Applications will also be available in March and April for those hoping to have their house painted.

why we're doing it

Our slogan is, "It's not about the paint, but it is about the paint, but it's not about the paint." Refresh KC exists to extend care and compassion to our neighbors. We want to improve our communities and create relationships with those living in those communities. What better way to accomplish this goal than to offer a free act of service taking place in one's own neighborhood? And not only will it take place in the neighborhood, but we have the opportunity to meet people right where they are—in the comfort of their own homes. We are not asking anyone to come to us; rather, we are coming to them. And at Refresh, when it comes to painting, we strive for outstanding work. We want these people to have beautifully painted walls and we will settle for nothing less. From this act of painting, it is our hope that we can foster relationships and conversations that will create other opportunities for neighborhood improvement. It’s not about the paint, but it is about the paint, but it’s not about the paint.

Refresh KC was fortunate enough to receive a grant to help us fund our project. One of the stipulations of that grant is to crowdfund $2,000. The money we receive from all of you generous individuals will help us purchase all of our paint, which is being charged at $4 a gallon from PPG paints. We will also need to purchase paint brushes from The Home Depot, which will cost $10 - $12 each. We are fortunate to be purchasing these items at such reasonable prices; however, when you need items for 75+ houses, the price adds up quick

updates

Today is the LAST DAY!!!!

Hello, everybody! We have made it SO far in the past month! We have raised over $1,600, and that, my friends, is amazing. But we aren't out of the woods yet! Today is the last day and we have just under $500 to raise. I know it might sound ambitious, but I believe we can raise all of that money by the end of the day!! You all are absolutely wonderful people and I can't express enough thanks for getting us this far. Will you please consider helping us get a little further?? We are so close! And remember, all money donated goes directly towards Refresh KC and helps us purchase all of our supplies! Now, let's get to $2,000!!

We're doing well, but we need your help!!

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has donated thus far! We have been able to raise a couple hundred dollars in the last few days which has been a huge help! So again, a gigantic thank you to all who have helped. As you can see, we still have a little way to go until we reach our goal. We want to positively impact as many people as we can in our communities, and you all are the people who make that impact possible. Should you feel led to do so, we would absolutely love it if you shared this page with your friends and family. Through sharing this page, you are making our project come to life. Thank you for taking the time to read this update, and thank you to all who have shared and donated!

Crowdfunding Launch!

Hello everybody! Our crowdfunding page is officially underway! So far we have already raised almost $200. That is awesome and we are SO thankful! I invite you to spread the word about Refresh KC and our crowdfunding page. It is because of you generous people that we are able to do what we do. Thank you so much! Let's spread the word and raise some money so we can paint some houses!!
