In early 2016, we worked with the NY State Healthy Neighborhoods Fund to develp new opportunities for underserved populations in our village. Our efforts have led to the construction of a 1/2 mile loop that will include lighting and benches. With your help, we'll be able to go even further to keep our community active. In this campaign challenge, we're raising additional funds to purchase outdoor fitness equipment, signage and landscaping to enhance the trail and bring the project to completion.
Once the funds are procured, we will determine the amount and type of fitness equipment and signage needed. Landscaping and mulching will be tailored to the site development. The implementation plan includes fundraising-fall 2016; research & purchasing of products-winter 2016-17; installation-spring 2017.
We want our residents to improve their fitness by creating a recreation site that will allow them to engage their minds and bodies for a healthier lifestyle. Although Clinton County ranks high for physical environment and access to excercise opportunities, it ranks low for recreation and fitness facilities. People who engage in an active lifestyle have a reduced risk of many serious health issues while improving their mood and promoting healthy sleep patterns.
