the project

The Valley Rescue Mission is dedicated to providing homeless men, women, children and families the opportunity to obtain food, shelter, basic life necessities, and the chance to rebuild a foundation for individual and family restoration.

The Rescue Mission’s Rescue SOS (Survival Outreach Services) helps individuals and families to meet basic, life-essential needs and serves as a link to social services in the community, including the organization's own emergency shelter, residential substance abuse recovery, and transitional housing programs. Throughout the week the Rescue SOS team truck travels to different places within the San Fernando Valley and is equipped with a mobile shower unit, hot nutritious food, clothing and hygiene items for distribution.

Because there is only one mobile shower unit to service the entire San Fernando Valley,in fact, they are the only one in the entire City of Los Angeles, the Rescue SOS team is limited to providing showers for only 20% of the 1,500 men, women and children they serve and accommodate each month. This is where our community can help!

Our project goal is to raise $17,000 dollars to provide the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission - Rescue SOS program with a second mobile shower unit so that they can reach out and care for more families every day.

the steps

Once we meet our fundraising goal, we will purchase a second mobile shower unit that will be used to provide thousands of showers for our homeless neighbors throughout Los Angeles and beyond. With an estimated 60,000 – 80,000 homeless individuals residing in LA County, the need for basic hygiene services has never been greater.

why we're doing it

Our San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission - Rescue SOS Mobile Shower Project is more than a new mobile shower, it's a way to bring resources and dignity to those that need a clean start. Rescue SOS is the only team in the City of Los Angeles that currently goes out into the community and brings resources directly to those in need that may not have the ability to travel on their own. Our mission for this project is to double Rescue SOS resources and allow their team to reach twice as many people and offer friendship and comfort to community members throughout the San Fernando Valley.
