Step Up, Dress Up

Scholars Dressed to Learn!

When students feel good about themselves they may experience limitless potential and fully commit to concentrating on their school work. A new and clean uniform may seem like a minor issue; however to some students, it makes a big difference-academically, socially, and emotionally.

Harvey Rice Wraparound School is a public school located in the Buckeye, Woodland Hills, and Shaker Square neighborhoods. Our mission at Harvey Rice is to ensure safety, respect, and achievement for all students, staff and members of our school community.  As a wraparound school we want to make sure scholars have what they need academically as well as services and resources that help to prevent barriers for attending and staying in school.

School uniforms are required for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and uniforms and can be expensive for some families who are struggling financially.  Our goal is to re-stock our uniform closet so that the lack of uniforms will not be a barrier for students attending and staying in class.

We need to raise $4,000 total which would provide an array of uniform sizes that address the needs of our PreK-8th grade population.

Harvey Rice Wraparound School Site Coordinator (Tanese Horton) is seeking to provide students that attend our school with uniform resources when needed.

why we're doing it

Purpose of Uniforms to our School Community

How can it shape the school community?

School uniforms are important and can be a contributing factor that sets the foundation of the school community. If a scholar does not have a uniform or if it is unclean and unkempt, they may not feel as if they are fully a member of the school community/culture. We are a school in one of the most impoverished neighborhoods in Cleveland and we want to remove that barrier. All students despite their social-economic status should be able to receive a quality education in a safe and secure environment.

If a student needs 1 uniform or a part of 1 uniform during the course of the day; we want to have it available. The lack of 1 uniform should not hinder a students academic progress!
