the project

Our project exist to enhance the urban community of Memphis by growing tea in neglected communities. Our hope is to serve the community by aesthetically improving neighborhoods through utilizing local resources and providing service opportunities that will impact the surrouding areas and shift the culture of the city. By acquiring volunteers from surrounding neighborhoods we hope to inspire further community developement.

the steps

Step 1: Purchase all materials needed (plants, soil , lumber, screws, landscape fabric). Step 2: Site Prep (picking up trash and debris, leveling out the ground). Step 3: Construct the garden beds. Step 4: Harvest and dry tea leaves.

why we're doing it

Tea M. I. exists to bring neighbors together, create a sense of ownership, and increase the value and image within the community by growing tea locally. We want our gardens to be the focal point of community interaction.
