the project

Friends group and community residents would like to enhance the neighborhood's unique spirit by planting tulips throughout one mile of Mosholu Parkway. The planting will take place in the fall season of 2017 along the Mosholu Pakrway terrains by volunteer residents from the different cultures and groups living in the area.

the steps

To complete the project, a variety of Tulips that bloom from early spring to late spring will be purchsed from varies nurseries and botanical catalogs after July 31st 2017. During that time and before the arrival of the bulbs, the pocket gardens on Mosholu will be prepared and new ones created for the preparation of a Tuilip Festival in 2018.

An event will be greated for October to invite those who donated to come out and help plant the tulips in assigend areas on Mosholu Parkway.

why we're doing it

Tulips on Mosholu is a representation of how a diverse community could come together and continue to live next to one another while welcoming in new families. As our neighborhoods continue to go through a development stage due to the housing affordable act under the Major of New York, the tulips will be a sign that variety creates beauty within the garden just like people bring their own beauty into our community.

We will be purchasing $3000 worth of bulbs for the first year of the project.
