the project

We're temporarily installing a series of swing sets underneath the Metromover superstructure to reinvigorate a public walkway. This low-cost addition will transform functional civic infrastructure into accessible, stimulating, and playful furniture. The corridor is centrally located and serves as a direct path to Government Center Station—MDT's busiest station. Seamlessly integrated into the existing urban framework, the swings will be arranged to preserve easy access through the heavily trafficked corridor while providing a new context for recreation and interaction.

the steps

  1. Define the design of the installation
  2. Meet with stakeholders
  3. Acquire permitting, 2/1
  4. Install swings, 2/21
  5. Dismantle swings, 2/28

why we're doing it

The installation will promote physical activity as well as inject spontaneity and sociability into the commons.
