the project

We Are Family CDC has inherited a building that needs major repairs.  Because there is no budget, we have to raise money to get it repaired. The purpose of this building will to establish a resource and transitional center for families and individuals that are impacted with social barriers such as illiteracy, financial burdens, homelessness, etc. This center will be kind of a one-stop-shop network working with community businesses and other social networks.

the steps

The roof is the first concern.  Materials will need to be purchased in order to repair the roof. WAFCDC volunteers will assist with labor and soliciting donations. The roof repair will allow other repairs afterwards.

why we're doing it

The purpose of this building will be to establish a community building for residents in Glenview Edgewood Manor to have a safe haven to get to know one another, host community meetings and events, and have movie night for families in the community. It will also serve as a small town center, which will include a Neighborhood Association office, a beauty/barber training site, a shoeshine parlor, a small theater, a computer lab, and a meeting hall. There will also be a community garden on site.
