Imagine youths and young adults from diverse dance groups across Sacramento coming together to perform in the uplifting-themed YOU-nity Performance Art Show.
In preparation for the YOU-nity Performing Arts Show, the dancers attended a multi-day YOU-nity Performing Arts Workshop; where impactful choreographers from the Sacramento community lead them in activities that helped them connect their minds with the movements and express themselves confidently and clearly through dance. Connections were not only made within themselves, but they bonded with their peers and made new friends as they worked together to create a grand-closing dance performance for the YOU-nity Performing Arts Show!
During the Pre-show; which is the YOU-nity Day Party, these youths and young adults dancers hung out with friends both new and old as they waited to tech their groups dance performance. At this day party, the 12 and younger dancers showcased their themed dance performances to their families and friends. There is music playing, food being served, and community resources being shared.
These three events, The YOU-nity Workshop, The YOU-nity Day Party, and The YOU-nity Performing Arts Show are all a part of the YOU-nity Arts and Wellness Festival; an experience designed to build YOU-nity within selves, our homes, and our community!
To help us reach our goal of building YOU-nity in our community and of reaching our fundraising goal for the YOU-nity Arts and Wellness Festival, R.O.Y.A.L. Dancers will host 2 Fundraising events: A YOU-nity Arts and Wellness Fundraiser for Caregivers and Kids and a YOU-nity Skate Party and Dance Showcase.
How much fun would Sacramento dancers and families have at a skate night and dance showcase? Where the theme of the YOU-nity Arts and Wellness Festival will be revealed!
How heartwarming would it be to see families bonding and learning healthy communication skills while creating an art project? Imagine them moving joyfully as they interpret their art through guided creative movement!
These are the YOU-nifying experience that we seek to create! You can join and/or contribute to these YOU-nity events as a participant, volunteer, or sponsor! Help us bring these events to life!

R.O.Y.A.L. Dancers’ goal is to empower our community to be Resilient, Optimistic, You-nique, Authentic, and Loving/Loved, R.O.Y.A.L.. Adverse experiences challenges our community to feel R.O.Y.A.L.. Time spent in isolation due to the Covid-19 pandemic has caused many of our community members, especially our youth, to experience feelings of anxiety and depression. Prior to the pandemic, many of our youth were victims of adverse experiences. All of which poses an threat to mental health and wellness.
Without intervention, mental health problems in our youth may lead to other health and behavioral risks such as an increased risk of drug use, experiencing violence, and increased risk of sexual behaviors. (Coronavirus Disease 2019, n.d.)
Our youth need to feel connected, happy, and at peace. Research has connected adolescent happiness with positive family relationships, being extraverted and social, and having a best friend. (Youth Statistics: Health, n.d.) Additionally, “studies have shown that people who feel well-connected and supported by others have lower rates of anxiety and depression, whereas those who do not have social connections are at higher risk for suicide, low self-esteem, and antisocial behaviors” (Cognitive Behavior Institute, 2022)
R.O.Y.A.L Dancers desires for the youth of our community to live well and be happy. The You-nity events aim to create opportunities for our youth to connect with themselves, their families, and each other while enjoying the arts. They empower our community, with a focus on the youths, to be R.O.Y.A.L.
