About Us
The goal of The Friends of Medford Community Garden is to facilitate the building of new community gardens in our community. The Friends' role is to work with City departments to identify feasible locations for community gardens, provide guidance in designing and building the gardens, and oversee the organization of the gardens.

What are the benefits to having Community Gardens? Enhance nutrition and increase physical activity. Foster community ownership and civic pride. Build community leaders. Provide opportunities for intergenerational learning activities. Stimulate social interactions between generations and cultures. Allow people to grow traditional foods not available in super markets. Serve as an outdoor classroom where youth can learn valuable skills. Conserve resources by saving on the transportation and packaging of food. Reduce family food budgets. Preserve green space. Recycle organic waste back into the soil. Encourage people to understand the connections between people, agriculture, and nature.
