About Us
Ms. Greenblatt is the Program Director for the Outdoors Empowered Network. She has been training teachers and youth development professionals since 2000. In that time, she has also trained and mentored many other instructors to teach wilderness leadership, group facilitation, teambuilding, and nature awareness skills. She grew up camping and backpacking with her family in Northern California. When she returned after college and travel, she served as a job skills counselor and GED tutor with Youth Build San Francisco, and facilitated a nature-based group for incarcerated teen boys with Vision Youthz. When the youth asked for an overnight trip, it launched her into the world of wilderness leadership, receiving training and gear loans from Bay Area Wilderness Training. She went on to lead multi-day trips for diverse groups of middle and high school students with LifeSchool. She has taught environmental education in New Mexico and California, art classes in several Bay Area schools, and designed programs and curricula for local youth development organizations. Ms. Greenblatt has been a lead instructor with Bay Area Wilderness Training since 2001, previously served as the organization’s Program Director, and later on its Board. She has studied tracking and wilderness survival with Tracker School, and mentoring and awareness with Jon Young. She is a skills tester and teaching assistant for Wilderness First Responder and First Aid courses. From 2005-2013, she worked in program and grants management roles with two private foundations focused on services and higher education access/success for low income, first generation, and foster youth. Ms. Greenblatt is very excited to be working with the affiliate programs of the Outdoors Empowered Network, supporting their work and building the collaborative community
