the project
The Memphis Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) group has teamed together with other local nonprofits to create an exciting community service project. Our RPCV’s would like to share what they’ve learned abroad and bring it home to our beloved Memphis! With the help of volunteers from AmeriCorps, Clean Memphis, Memphis RPCVs, other volunteer organizations and Mr. Tad Pierson, whose artistic touch can be seen throughout Memphis, we will transform a dormant green space to one that’s exciting, inviting and fun for all. We will be using recycled tires for furniture and planters, hanging lights for nighttime fun, creating a mini free library, and landscaping, just to name a few things.
the steps
First we will purchase supplies and materials from a local hardware store. Some materials include mulch, paint, brushes, rollers, bins, and flowers. Afterwards, we will pick up borrowed tools from Memphis City Beautiful. We would then take all supplies, materials, and tools to the project site. We would then begin the project and complete the project in the same day.
why we're doing it
We would like to activate a dormant green space. Belvedere Triangle Park is a beautiful park in a vibrant neighborhood but is sadly underutilized. The hope is to activate the space to inspire friendly conversation and creative collisions.

The money collected from our ioby campaign will be used to reimburse funds spent on project. We were able to get a lot of the needed materials donated from local businesses. In addition, we did not purchase rope because it was no longer a part of the project.
