24 hours a day. 7 days a week. 365 days a year.
The Branchport Keuka Park Volunteer Fire Department is now beginning its Annual Fund Drive. Your support plays a vital role in the ongoing efforts of our Firefighters, EMTs, and Dive Team to be there for you in times of need. While allocations from taxes cover a percentage of our expenses, we still rely on donations to keep up with the demands of operating a modern emergency-services organization.
We are an all-volunteer organization. The funds we raise will be used for volunteer retention and department services.
Additionally in 2020, we will need to replace bunker gear – the jackets and pants we wear when fighting fires – for our volunteers. We will also need to purchase new air packs, to replace our current packs that are 15 years old. Finally, we are working on building a new rescue truck to improve our abilities when responding to fires and motor vehicle accidents.
All volunteer, all the time.
In New York state, 90 percent of the fire departments are made up entirely of volunteers. Nationwide, the number is 71 percent. Which means when you need help, the people taking care of you and your loved ones are there out of a sense of duty. We spend countless hours training for incidents big and small. This training and the quality of equipment at our disposal is essential to providing fast, reliable service when you and the community need us most.
