the project

The name of my business is SooCrafty Creations. I make and sell mostly crochet and jewelry items. I also teach arts and craft classes at Create-A-Craft located at Shore Cultural Center in Euclid, Ohio. Private classes are available to those not able to make scheduled classes either at the studio, or a agreed upon location such as a coffee shop or library. I have done this for Girl Scout Groups.

I have a heart to teach and It is my desire to bring free/low cost arts and craft classes to communities throughout Northeast Ohio. I grew up doing arts and crafts and have been teaching over the years to various ages and abilities. With a craft bus, I can park and teach to small groups that I would welcome inside the bus at community events, daycares, nursing homes, schools and more!

the steps

1. Locate and purchase an old school bus. -Sept

2. Secure title, insurance, CDL to drive the bus, necessary parking permits, etc. Sept-

3. Have necessary renovations done and in good condition to drive. -Oct

4. Apply for nonprofit status.-Oct

5. Pre-stock bus with craft supplies to offer free/low cost craft classes. -Oct

6. Ask for continued craft supply donations and volunteers to help run the craft bus. -Oct

why we're doing it

Budget cuts always affect the arts. Young and old have limited to no resources to engage in arts and crafts in some communities. So often craft classes are not accessible or not affordable outside of a school or church setting.  My grandmother was a great seamstress and my mom is a mult-crafter. Growing up and over the years, arts and crafts has always been an outlet of expression for me. I know first hand the calmness that comes over me when I create and to see the "fruits of my hands" as my grandmother says is most rewarding. I strive for my students to have the same feelings while taking my classes. Making jewelry appeals to all ages and genders. Teaching others to engage in arts and crafts is most rewarding for me. I believe providing a creative outlet for all ages would have the same affect.  Businesses can be born from learning a craft or two. Someone with a heart to teach as well could give back to the community as I try to do.
