the project

Adams County Connect has been in the making for many years, starting as a small idea to host hikes in Adams County to encourage tourism and education in the area. This thought blossomed into a broad, multi faceted idea that will provide opportunities beyond just outdoor experiences.

Funding will be used to launch our three main objectives, which are:

Sharing resources- This begins with booths at farm markets and events in the Cincinnati area, where we will sell goods and wares sourced in Adams county, as well as provide resources for further goods and services available in Adams county.

Facilitating experiences- Curated hikes and campouts that teach on our area's unique and wonderful history. We will also provide opportunities for folks from Adams County outings in Cincinnati, including sporting events, theater performances, and family outings.

Building community- or largest goal is to create a brick and mortar base camp in Adams County. This space would be part community room, cafe, and art gallery. Picture scout meetings, baby showers, community discussions and celebrations, free food days. That's what we're aiming for.

We believe that by implementing these ideals, we'll be able to help encourage community connections in both our rural and urban areas, creating space for exploration, learning, and understanding of each other.

the steps

- Develop ad material for ACC, featuring goods & services that could be useful or  to be distributed at our farm market setups as well as to other community spaces.

- Hire expert guides to host hikes and campouts, collaborating with local community leaders and campgrounds.

- Purchase goods to sell at farm markets.

- Purchase tickets to sporting events, theater & family outings destinations (example: zoo, museum center)

- Provide transportation from Adams county to Cincinnati for said events

-Build savings for brick & mortar space

- Create & maintain website & social media, including fun and educational video shorts about our local history

why we're doing it

The founders of Adams County Connect share a passion for the outdoors and the southern Ohio region because these are the places we love, and where we we've chosen to build a life. Austin grew up in Adams County, and Alex in Cincinnati. We've spent our lives hearing what our communities had to say about each other, and it wasn't always good. That rhetoric creates fear and discourages exploration, often making an unknown space feel unsafe and unwelcoming. We want to change these perceptions of each other, and we want to do it by creating space and opportunity for connection and understanding. Additionally, we want to shine a positive light on all of the wonderful resources Adams County has to offer, from the home grown food, to the unique and magical natural surroundings. We're so excited to watch these ideas grow!
