Thank You To The Following Ohio City Restaurants For Their Partnership!

the project

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Thanks to your generous donations and the partnership of local restaurants we served 600 meals to the staff at Lutheran Hospital on Wednesday, May 13th. Our campaign was fully funded through the generosity of our wonderful community (special thanks to Gary Francis and Ohio City Pasta for closing the gap!). We had terrific masked volunteers to help deliver the meals: Denise R, Pat C, and Gretchen S & Scott. We were fortunate to have the incredible partnership of the folks at Lutheran; Janice Gonzalas, Polly Stringer, and Dr. Malone (and the valets that helped with organizing the delivery vehicles as well as the food service staff that helped move the meals into the hospital and made sure the food was safe to serve).

Please consider patronizing these wonderful restaurants that prepared the meals and made yesterday's appreciation event possible:

  • Banana Blossom
  • Beet Jar
  • Big Mouth Donut
  • Bon
  • Citizen Pie
  • Dave's Cosmic Subs
  • La Petit Triangle
  • Ohio City BBQ
  • Waffle Bar

It was a beautiful, sunny day to share and show our community support and appreciation to our front line heros at Lutheran Hospital. Thank you all for all of your support.

With gratitude,

Karen

Dear Neighbors,

All of us have read the stories about neighbors helping neighbors during this trying time. Many of the stories relate to restaurants providing meals to our frontline workers and medical personnel who are working tirelessly to heal and save lives while at the same time putting their own lives at risk and those of their families by working in dangerous conditions.

While the curve has flattened, Cleveland has not peaked, and we will continue to see new cases in Cuyahoga County for weeks ahead. We are asking you to donate what you can so we can provide meals to our frontline responders at Lutheran Hospital. To date, Lutheran has not had a COVID positive patient admitted on the floors yet. Most likely it will happen and the team is ready to serve. Meanwhile, they continue to provide care for other patients during this dangerous time.  Though the cafeteria is open from 7 am -2 pm with a very limited menu, the priority is to provide nutritious meals for the patients with the reduced kitchen staff, leaving second and third shift personnel limited to what is available in vending machines.

Your donations have a dual purpose: you are helping feed our local hospital from the CEO to the cleaning staff, while at the same time you are helping our neighborhood restaurants who will be providing the food.  Lutheran Hospital is a mainstay in our neighborhood. Please show your appreciation for all they do by donating today.

Our goal is $6,186 so that we can feed all of the dedicated staff members at Lutheran Hospital on all three shifts. Donations are eligible for tax deductions.

the steps

We are working now with Ohio City restaurants to line up our project partners and plan menus.

Once the campaign ends in early May we will confirm the food orders.

Meals will be delivered to Lutheran Hospital on a date in mid-May for the staff on each of the three shifts to enjoy.

why we're doing it

Please help us show our extreme gratitude and appreciation to all the staff at Lutheran Hospital during these stressful pandemic times. Our project also helps support our local restaurants during these difficult economic times. Lutheran has been serving our neighborhood hospital for over a century. Our cherished neighborhood restaurants contribute to our neighborhood character, strength, and community. Let's all support our community in these times of need.
