It is the mission of the Friends of the Yvonne Richardson Community Center (FOYRCC) to provide support to underserved families of Fayetteville, AR. This support includes social, educational and recreational programming in hopes to provide life lessons and skills to develop leaders who in turn invest in their communities in the future.
In 2023, over 80 kids attended the Summer Fun4Kids program with 75% on scholarship. Breakfast snacks and lunch are generously provided by Fayetteville Public Schools. The remaining costs are covered by donors and fundraising events. Our focus for IOBY is to cover the costs for 2024 Summer Fun4Kids. Staffing, transportation, field trips. learning workshops and daily fun are where your donations will be applied.
The YRCC was built in 1996 to provide opportunities for children in the community. It's a proven fact that Recreation Centers improve the trajectories of underrepresented kids. Planting Seeds of Hope, One Kid at a Time is our mission. We ask that you help ensure that children in our community continue to have a safe place to grow, learn and play.
Summer Fun4Kids is run by the City of Fayetteville with the FOYRCC providing monies for programming. We are confident in Josh Lainfiesta, YRCC Director, and his staff to budget and use the funds raised to maximize the experience for the kids. Josh and his staff go to great lengths to make sure that the kids are cared for, heard, taught and enjoyed. Please feel free to visit the YRCC!
The FOYRCC believe in the mission of the YRCC and in the importance of a community based center. In addition to the Summer Fun4Kids, there is an after school program, Homeschool P.E. Classes, Preschool playtime, Community Speed Network to connect people with resources and holiday events for the community. Most recently, Bridge the Gap for teens has been added. This group has been focusing on the homeless and seniors in South Fayetteville. There is so much work to be done and the FOYRCC are doing their best to support this honorable mission.
