the project

The goal of Project Re-TRASH is to engage, educate, and empower the public on the physical recycling process by bringing it straight to them. Showcasing the vast potential of their trash by diverting it from landfills and creating assets that can be used to create new and beautiful artworks. We strive to show communities and businesses that organics, metals, glass, paper and plastic waste can be converted into a value-added product or art form.

Our mobile recycling/artist studio environments are shipping containers that have been repurposed and transformed. These containers can be transported to the site of any event, community, business or waste stream enabling local residents and businesses to see the beauty and purpose of reusing recycled materials in real-time.

By providing a unique platform with these creative environments, Project Re-TRASH creates tangible benefits for local communities and businesses by keeping public spaces clean and creating new usable materials. Our hope is to increase awareness and educate the public on sustainability by Embracing the Link Between Art & Ecology.

Please DONATE NOW and share this link via (social media and email) to help Project Re-TRASH meet it’s goal. There is no limit to the amount of your donation and it is 100% Tax-Deductible.

the steps

1. Purchase raw shipping containers for recycling environments.

2. Source and purchase equipment for recycling processing and art studios.

3. Build out containers, customize as needed, and outfit with equipment.

4. Showcase Project Re-TRASH containers at upcoming events throughout Chicago including:

  • Chicago Flower & Garden Show: March 18-22, 2020
  • Old Town Art Fair: June 13-14, 2020
  • Researching various bars and restaurants and other upcoming events that could benefit from Project Re-TRASH.

why we're doing it

As we enter 2020, Recycling is a common term in our industry, but is it fully understood and acknowledged by people and businesses on daily basis. Forecasters are predicting that by 2050, the world will have more plastic in our oceans than fish.  A truly disturbing thought, but a reality if our society does not make a change.

Project Re-TRASH is proud to be part of that change and aims to illuminate ways we can overcome the fear, confusion, and apathy surrounding recycling and climate change. Our unique Re-TRASH shipping container environments will provide platforms that will allow individuals, neighborhoods, communities and businesses to come together in the Chicago land area. Allowing them to Embrace the Link Between Art and Ecology and see first hand the results instead of guessing if their recycling efforts are making a difference.

Our dedicated team is very passionate about Project Re-TRASH and it’s potential. Our goal to solve this environmental problem is to implement these unique contained environments into the Chicago landscape at a local level and eventually expand into other cities.

Whether we like it or not, whether we choose to "believe" the science or not - the reality of climate change is upon us. It is affecting everything: not just weather patterns and ecosystems, but the health, safety and security of every person alive and generations to come.

Your contribution to Project Re-TRASH will not only be helping our team meet it’s goal, but make a huge impact in supporting socioeconomic change that is so desperately needed.
