Turning an abandoned house into welcoming community space for all in Niagara Falls!
Leader
Krista Ehasz
Location
1111 Grove Ave Niagara Falls, NY 14305
The goal of this project is to create a community space where neighbors of all ages are welcomed for activities and education. The Highland Clubhouse will offer community gathering space and targeted programming to residents of the surrounding neighborhoods. Space offerings include a commercial kitchen, laundry facilities, an exercise studio, classrooms, and offices. Programs will include but not be limited to mentoring, tutoring, workshops, childcare, and media production. Examples of some regular events will be movie nights, community forums, and fitness classes for all ages.
We also plan to work alongside other youth providers and community partners to maximize the impact of combined programming!
Update: As you may already know, the Clubhouse recently experienced a fire. We were so excited to get started with work, when this latest setback happened. We are working hard to make up the difference but appreciate your donations more than ever, as they will help us repair and get back up to speed.
Thank you!
The Highland community has been without a community center since the one on Center Ave closed down many years ago. Teen pregnancy rates are extremely high in this neighborhood and people are frequently asking for more activities for youth. We need a welcoming space for youth and families with lots of programming and options!
