Since 2018, the young ladies of Sweet n Sassy have been hosting a lemonade stand. They took a break because of Covid in 2020 and in 2021. The ladies use proceeds from the lemonade stand to assist charities in the community. The first year that they hosted the lemonade stand, the proceeds went to an elderly lady who had just experienced an electrical house fire the previous day. Since then, they have donated to summer programs, teacher's for their classroom school supplies and children of a young man who was murdered senselessly. This year, the young ladies are now ages 12, 13, 15 and 16,  have expanded their offering to lemonade, sweet treats and garage sale items. Members of the community faithfully give the young ladies items and start-up capital for inventory.

the steps

1. We will obtain the backpacks school supplies by shopping and ordering from vendors by August 25th, 2023.

2. We will begin collecting names of children in need on August 25th, 2023

3. Once received, we will pack the backpacks with the school supplies on September 1st, 2023.

4. We will pass out the backpacks to the children from the list on September 8th, 2023.

5. We will do a SWOT analysis of the event to plan for next year on September 15th, 2023.

why we're doing it

Our project helps meet a basic need of children in Detroit. Families struggle to make ends meet. The cost of food and other goods have skyrocketed since COVID creating a situation where families are making tough choices on tight budgets. We want to alleviate the stress and hardship by giving children in need quality school supplies that they can be proud of in school. Hopefully, with the necessary supplies children who receive school supplies from our project will excel academically.

Notebooks, pencils, erasers, crayons, glue sticks, scissors, folders $20 x 114= $2280

Total $3420

Although we only raised $3410 in funds to be disbursed, we will pay for the additional backpack.
